With the 2025 London Marathon fast approaching, many runners are preparing for the gruelling 26.2-mile challenge, including some of our superstars, Chris and Alex. But they’re not just running for the thrill of the race, as they’ve all decided to run on behalf of PDSA.
Read on to discover their reasons for supporting PDSA, and please consider helping with their fundraising efforts if you can – your support can ensure more poorly pets receive the care they need and deserve.
Meet Chris

“Growing up in a house with two dogs, a cat, and countless other animals, pets have always been close to my heart. That feeling has only grown over the last six years as the proud dog dad of my own rescue pup, Dylan.
“Dylan’s presence has truly enriched our lives, but we have faced some challenges along the way. When we adopted him, he suffered from a health condition that required a long treatment plan. Dylan was also an unfortunate victim of a serious dog attack, which left him with a severe wound on his paw. To treat his injuries, he needed emergency surgery and a lengthy recovery over multiple months.
“We were fortunate; our insurance and savings helped to cover the cost of his rehabilitation and ensured he got the best care possible. But sadly, I know that this is not the case for many loving pet parents with the cost of living crisis.
“I’m so pleased to be running the London Marathon for PDSA this year to help those who are less fortunate than myself take care of their furry family members in times of need.”

Meet Alex

- Age: 29
- Occupation: Senior Management Accountant
- Team cat, dog, or small furry?: Dog
- Motivational song of choice?: ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Survivor
"Joining PDSA as a Senior Management Accountant gave me a real insight into all the hard work that happens in our Pet Hospitals. Running the London Marathon for PDSA is my way of raising funds to continue that great work. I’ve also recently become a first-time dog owner (a one-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Teddy), and I know how important pets can be.
“As someone who enjoys finding new ways to push myself, I’m looking forward to taking on this amazing challenge!"
