Can I register my pet at Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital?
Yes, from Tuesday 2nd January 2024 we will be accepting new registrations at Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital.
I have additional pets that aren’t currently registered. Can I get treatment for them now?
Yes. If you have a new or additional pet that needs veterinary treatment, you can now register them at Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital
Why did you need to restrict registrations at Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital?
Unfortunately, like the rest of the UK, Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital was experiencing severe shortages in veterinary staffing. As a result, we made the difficult decision to temporarily stop accepting new registrations at Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital. Our priority was to ensure we could continue to provide treatment to the pet patients currently registered with us, while also protecting the wellbeing of our staff. We are now pleased to announce that we have successfully recruited additional veterinary staff and this will allow us to take on new clients and pets at Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital
Can I get a vaccination and other preventive services?
We are currently only providing limited preventive services at Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital. We will continue to prioritise pets who are sick and injured. However, we will make preventive services available wherever possible. We will keep our website updated to show when these services are available and you will be able to request these services online.
Can I get treatment for all conditions?
While staffing levels have improved, we are continuing to prioritise pets that need urgent and life-saving treatment. Routine care that can be delivered remotely will be provided over the phone.
Why can’t I have a face-to-face appointment?
We introduced remote consultations during the pandemic to allow us to continue to provide care and treatment while following social distancing guidelines. They were a great success, with lots of owners telling us that they preferred this way of accessing treatment, as they were less stressful for pets, so we have continued to offer them.
Remote consultations also allow us to recruit vets from all parts of the UK, which, during the current shortage of veterinary staff, is a great benefit.
Remote consultations are only booked for routine care; if the vet identifies that your pet needs to see a vet, a face-to-face appointment will be booked.
How do I request an appointment?
Routine appointments need to be requested online at:
Please note if your pet has an emergency, you can phone Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital on 0116 255 8731, who will advise appropriately.
What are you doing to try to get back to a normal service?
The shortage of veterinary staff is a UK-wide issue, it is not a problem specific to Leicester PDSA Pet Hospital. We are working hard to solve the staff shortage problems as quickly as possible, so we can return to normal services across our network of 48 Pet Hospitals. Please be understanding with our staff, who are doing all they can.
