Pet Hospital Vet Volunteer - Portsmouth

We’re looking for volunteer veterinary surgeons to get involved in our local PDSA pet hospitals and help our veterinary staff to provide compassionate veterinary treatment to treat pets in need.

PDSA is the UK’s leading veterinary charity. Our vision is a society in which no pet is denied veterinary care because their owners can’t afford it. PDSA Pet Hospitals are vital in helping us to deliver our mission of carrying out over 2.2 million treatments on more than 430,000 sick and injured pets each year.

PDSA has over 110 community charity shops around the UK and 49 pet hospitals. Our amazing teams of volunteers are vital to our success and we urgently need your help to continue the life-changing work we do at PDSA.

Our pet hospitals are looking for volunteer RCVS registered veterinary surgeons. In this role, you would provide an essential service in helping us manage our busy workload, so if you are an RCVS registered vet who would like to donate some of your time to help in our busy pet hospital we'd like to hear from you.

You will be supporting our front line work by supporting consultations, surgeries and preventive treatments in accordance to PDSA and RCVS standards and policies.

Pet hospitals are busy places; therefore, successful volunteers will have the following skills:

  • Are good at building positive relationships with people
  • Positive about working in the hospital environment
  • A great team player
  • It is essential to be IT literate

By becoming veterinary surgeon volunteer with PDSA, you will:

Specific hours would be arranged around your flexibility, but a regular and reliable commitment is required.
