A young Uncle Fred
In memory of
Frederick Hackett
A Tribute to Uncle Fred
Uncle Fred was so much more than just family, he was a great uncle, a loyal workmate, and my best friend. From early on, he was someone I looked up to. I still remember the summer he taught me to swim at the age of 9, a simple gesture that became one of many cherished memories.
A proud ex-soldier of the Coldstream Guards, Uncle Fred stood with dignity as he guarded Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, a true testament to his character and sense of duty. But beyond the uniform, he was the kind of man whose kindness, humour, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He leaves behind his loving wife, devoted children, and many friends who will miss him dearly. But what he also leaves behind is a lifetime of memories that I will hold close to my heart — moments filled with laughter, stories, and lessons that will never be forgotten.
From one soldier to another, I salute you, Uncle Fred. Rest easy. You were truly one of a kind.
