Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital update: FAQs

If your pet is registered at Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital on Church Terrace, please read our FAQs below for more information.

You do not need to do anything, and you should continue using the services available at Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital as normal.

When will the new hospital open?

We’re planning to begin construction work at the end of 2024 / early 2025 and aim for our new facility to be open by the end of 2025. We will contact registered clients when we have more information.

When is the current hospital closing?

The current hospital on Church Terrace will remain open until the new Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital on Fuller Street is ready to open at the end of 2025. Further details will be provided closer to the time.

Will I need to re-register?

No, your registration will continue as normal.

Will eligibility or services change?

No – our eligibility criteria and the veterinary services we provide at Hendon PDSA will stay the same.

Where is the new Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital?

The new Pet Hospital will be built approximately 900 yards away, on Fuller Street. The address of the new Pet Hospital will be confirmed nearer the time of opening.

Why are you building a new hospital?

The current hospital on Church Terrace has been treating local pets for over 50 years. Sadly, it is now struggling to cope with the number of pets that need our help. It’s too small and lacks some of the modern facilities we need to provide vital, life-saving veterinary care. The Hendon Hub redevelopment has allowed us the opportunity to build a new, fit for purpose Pet Hospital.

How will the new hospital be better than the current hospital?

The new Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital will be modern in design and enable us to provide the best possible treatment for our pet patients long into the future.

The current Pet Hospital on Church Terrace has four consulting rooms, whilst the new Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital on Fuller Street will have six. There will also be a bigger waiting room for pet owners (with separate areas for cats and dogs to help make visiting us less stressful!).

How much is the hospital costing?

PDSA need to raise £1.3 million to fund the expanded capacity of the new hospital.

How are you paying for the new hospital?

As part of the local redevelopment, Barnet Council have agreed to fund a like-for-like replacement Pet Hospital. However, PDSA has taken the opportunity to create a bigger facility, which will have the capacity to help many more local pets. This will cost £1.3 million, which will be funded through public support.

What will happen to the current hospital?

The current hospital on Church Terrace will close permanently once the new Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital on Fuller Street is ready to open and become part of the local redevelopment being planned by the Council.
